YOU CAN TALK DISABILITY WITH US

As non-disabled people,it’s crucial to have a space where we can ask questions, express concerns, and learn without fear of being “cancelled”.

The less we talk about our worries, the less safe and accessible our dance environments can become.

Why? Because when we’re worried, concerned or confused we can tend to focus our energy on ourselves instead of connecting with our students’ needs. When you have a safe space to talk about disability openly, it’s a chance for you to receive support and feel more confident so that when you’re in the classroom you’re more present.

So join us in this important conversation! Let’s explore how we can improve our practices and make our dance spaces welcoming for everyone.

Teachers, do you want to create more inclusion and accessibility for dancers with disabilities at your studio? Then it’s important you have a safe space to talk about it! It doesn’t have to be hard or scary anymore. We’ve got you! Ask ALL your questions and talk about what worries you!

When you, as the leader, engage in conversations about disability, you inspire your staff, students, and community to feel more confident talking about it too. This creates an energy of openness and contributes to deeper levels of inclusion. Leaders go first and it trickles down from the top. Are you willing to step up as the leader and be the example?

Your voice and experience are invaluable in this journey.

Together, we can create a global dance community where everyone feels safe, respected, and included.
